New year, new website, new blog…

Welcome to my new site.  No longer just a space for sharing my music, now also a space for other things I feel are worth sharing too.

Over the course of the past five years parenting my two boys, I have learned so many things and come across so much remarkable new information… things I wish I had known at the beginning of my parenting journey, things that have made a real difference to our lives, our state of happiness, the way our family ticks and bonds.

As my interest in children, play and childhood has grown, I’ve found myself reading more and more about how children work, how to connect with them, how to play on their level, different parenting styles, ways to discipline and guide.  I enjoy continually learning more and over time I’ve realised I have found my calling and want to work with children in a way that has a positive impact on their lives.

My decision to train to become a Play Therapist was a revelation – exciting and nerve wracking.  In September 2014 I began a degree in Childhood Studies and already my knowledge base has expanded so much in the areas of child development, psychology, sociology, history and philosophy.  Merging my self-guided learning with real critical analysis of the concepts and theories which underpin childhood and how children fit into our society is fascinating!

So, for the first time I feel I have something to say…  I continue to discover lots of really interesting and useful information and I want to share! I use Facebook for this purpose and email specific bits and pieces to friends occasionally, yet sometimes I wish I had a way of organising it all properly.

So here we are.  It’s brand new, there’s nothing in this blog section yet, only my songs in the music section. Over time I hope to build up an interesting and useful collection.  I hope it’s as good for you as it has been for me!

If I complete this and tick the box, does that mean I’ll get sent updates when you post them? Like I do with Arif’s blog?

Exciting stuff. I can’t wait to read more 🙂
